Patricia Kirkland

Assistant Professor, Politics and SPIA

As an Assistant Professor of Politics and Public Affairs, I teach classes about U.S. politics, including state and local politics, urban politics and policymaking, and social class and inequality. Much of my research focuses on representation in US cities, and I am working on a book project that investigates business owners and executives who become politicians. On a personal note, I grew up near Harrisburg, PA, and lived in the Philadelphia area for a number of years. I spent two years at Smith College and then worked for a number of years before finishing my bachelor's degree at Temple University. From Temple, I went on to graduate school at Columbia University and then a fellowship at Vanderbilt University. Office hours appointments can be set up through her Calendly
