After college, she took a year off while working as a cashier at the statue of liberty’s gift shop; this experienced helped her realize she wanted to continue doing science, so she applied to a Biochemistry Master’s program at Hunter College. During her time at Hunter, she did research in a lab, taught organic chemistry and prepared to apply to PhD programs. She received her PhD from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she did protein crystallography. She is now a postdoc in the department of Molecular Biology at Princeton working on peptide from the human microbiome.
