Diana Newby

Position
Lecturer, Princeton Writing Program
Bio/Description

Diana Newby is a Lecturer in the Writing Program, where she teaches classes that explore how human cultures interpret and interact with the natural world. Her research crosses disciplinary boundaries to explore the history of ideas about the environment, embodiment, and their relationship to each other, with particular focus on how 19th-century scientific theories of ecology and biology influenced literary representations of both human and nonhuman life. She loves hiking, running, and the outdoors and volunteers with a Princeton conservation group, and she has three cats whose adorable shenanigans keep her very busy.
